Bella Ev is a magnificent period house, and the owners have honoured the age of the house by preserving the original structure and valuing the many classical features the house has to offer; including the high ceilings, antique cornices, the original teak sash windows, and stained glass highlights, and the distinctive foundation of hand cut stone. The house has an arrangement of courtyards patterned with hand cut and placed granite blocks.  From its 48 windows the house offers glimpses of the sea, and splendid views of the indigenous park, with the gentle background sounds of the mountain stream and nearby area.  The 30 doors provide secrecy and mystery, every nook and cranny deserves investigation.

Kerime calls herself an architect without a degree, and has added to the feeling of the ancient through collections of art and objets and mindful restoration. Her love for Greek mythology is reflected in an arrangement of art works, aged in the Namib, depicting the stories of mythological antiquity. The house offers a rare pedigree of chairs ranging from the styles of Louis XIV, Cape Dutch, Victorian telegraph chairs and upholstered arm chairs of different shapes including tub, wing back and chaise longue. Bella Ev blends the textures of marble and wood, lit by brass and crystal chandeliers, and reflected in the plentiful mounted bevelled mirrors. It is home to a unique collection of all manner of shaped glass vases, handcrafted ceramic vessels and sculptures collected on travels or through wonderous encounters. The floor of the entrance room has been intricately laid in an Ottoman design, the Escher-eque wooden floors are displayed under karakul and Ottoman rugs, and the original red carpets still line the staircase with its teak banister leading up to the landing that displays twin gilded gold mirrors. The Dining room exhibits art deco perfume bottles, a fireplace adorned by concrete niches, and freestanding walnut glass cabinet displaying a precious inventory of Turkish coffee cups, hand blown and moulded glass and silverware.  The house boasts other eccentricities, like the obsolete servants bell call box.

Over the years Kerime has expressed her flare and creativity through the numerous additions and renovations she has done on the house, blending the old and the new to give the house a contemporary richness while maintaining the character, atmosphere and warmth of this classic period home. Kerime’s haute couture background, exotic roots and natural interest in the wider world have influenced her choices, pieces in the house have been chosen for their unique character and many have been custom made.  She has arranged the many treasures and features of Bella Ev with ardour to intrigue and pique curiosity.
